In Lviv, on September 27, the workshop “Alternatives to violence” was held within the framework of the 5th Ecumenical Social Week. Alla Soroka, a program coordinator and a psychologist from Odesa, presented the program.
The program was designed by Quakers (pacifist religious group) in order to improve the social situation in prisons, more than thirty years ago. On the territory of Ukraine the program has operated since 2005 and has actively developed new areas.
During the basic workshop of the project “Alternatives to violence” a safe and comfortable environment is created, which ensures that everyone can reveal themselves to the extent they are ready. The participants learn to understand themselves and their loved ones, to deal effectively with conflicts and difficult situations in everyday life. During the seminar each participant gains a considerable experience of positive conflict-free communication with others.
