During the 6th Ecumenical Social Week, the book of Professor Antoine Arjakovsky “Waiting for Orthodox Council” was represented.

Co-reporters were the author’s colleagues, Candidate of Philosophy Konstyantyn Sihov and Rev. Mykhaylo Dymyd. The moderator was the chairman of the Lviv Stavropigion Fraternity of St Andrew the Apostle of UAOC Taras Dmytryk.

Professor Arjakovsky called for openness in dealing with the problems of separation: “It is important to get engaged and talk about ourselves, because it concerns us. As Francis Pope said we must speak the same language, not different ones.”

Rev. Mykhaylo Dymyd emphasized that the chapter of the book that impressed him most of all was about understanding of the authority in the Orthodox Church. An apt thought was the maxim that people are separated not by fences but y different spiritual experiences. Therefore, we have to do fruitful work in this sphere.

After the presentation, the audience had the opportunity to buy the book and have an informal chat with the author. There were expressed hopes for a similar meeting in a few years and for the Orthodox Council to take place in the near future.
